Maintenance Coordinator

SUMMARISED DESCRIPTION:

Under the general direction of the Campus Manager, the incumbent organises, monitors and supervises facility maintenance operations, which includes the performance of a variety of technical and administrative tasks relative to the maintenance of the facilities, grounds, vehicles and general equipment of the Maria Kloppers Campus.

REPORTING STRUCTURE 

  • The incumbent report to the Campus Manager
  • All actions must be in line with company policies and procedures and the incumbent must adhere to decisions and recommendations made by the Board of Directors and their committees.
  • Ensure adherence to quality standards as well as compliance with health and safety regulations and safe operating procedures.
  • Recruitment, development and supervision of staff, reporting to the incumbent.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Plan, prioritise, assign, participate, supervise and review maintenance and repairs of buildings and equipment.

These include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Basic Plumbing and maintenance of sewer system
  • Minor electrical repairs including replacement of globes and repairs to plugs and light switches.
  • Replacement or repair of broken windows, doors, cupboards and worksurfaces in all units.
  • Maintenance and repairs to roofs, ceilings, walls and floors including approved tiling where necessary.
  • Interior and exterior painting, including palisade fencing and security gates.
  • Repair household equipment such as fridges, washing machines, stoves and other household appliances.

Maintenance of grounds and equipment:

These include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Mowing of the lawn, turning of the flowerbeds and trimming of shrubbs and trees.
  • Treatment and removal of weed.
  • Maintenance of vacant land adjacent to Maria Kloppers Campus.
  • Maintenance, including cutting of the grass and cleaning of the area adjacent to the service road at the entrance as well as the pavement in St Georges Street.
  • Ensure that grounds are neat and tidy at all times. Rubble and broken equipment must be removed in good time.
  • Repairs and maintenance of equipment used for the maintenance of the ground e.g. lawnmowers and brush cutters.

Maintenance of facilities, systems and playground equipment

These include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Daily treatment and maintenance of the swimmingpool and monitoring of water level.
  • Maintenance and repair of swimming pool pump and cleaning equipment (kreepy-Krauly).
  • Monitor Solar Heating Systems and ensure optimum functioning. Schedule annual service and report problems to the service provider.
  • Maintenance and repair of borehole pump and related equipment.
  • Regular inspections and repairs of playground equipment to ensure the safety of the children.

 Maintenance and repairs of vehicles

  • Perform daily inspection of all vehicles and monitor trip sheets and fuel consumption.
  • Attend to minor repairs and defaults concerning the vehicles.
  • Schedule regular services with the approved service provider.
  • Ensure that all vehicles are safe and roadworthy at all times.

Regular inspection of grounds, facilities and equipment to determine problems and necessary maintenance

These include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Inspect the perimeter fence and repair any damages.
  • Inspect gutters and downpipes to identify and remove any blockages.
  • Investigate any obvious signs of underground water leaks
  • Monitor weekly water and electricity consumption and act on or report any irregularities.
  • Inspect household equipment and appliances to ensure the proper functioning and safe use of aforementioned. 

 Supervision and development of staff

  • Ensure regular training and development of staff reporting to the position.
  • Manage and approve leave of staff reporting to the position.
  • Ensure staff has the necessary equipment, skills and training to execute the tasks at hand.
  • Perform bi-annual performance reviews.

 Administrative Duties

  • Good record keeping of all maintenance.
  • Submission of monthly maintenance and safety reports
  • Compile quarterly safety reports.
  • Complete and file safety checklists and reports.
  • Obtain written quotations from approved suppliers, when needed.
  • Compile and update maintenance plan.
  • Updating the inventory list.

 General Duties

  • Execute and/ or supervise approved building or reconstruction projects.
  • Assist with the transport of children and staff.
  • Attend and represent the campus at all relevant meetings as determined by the Campus Manager.
  • Act as Health and Safety representative of the Campus and execute all relevant duties associated with the role.
  • Assist children with school projects.
  • Attend relevant training and development sessions
  • Execute any other reasonable duties as determined by the Campus manager which falls within the scope of the position or are in line with the operation of the campus.
